What is 13 inches tall, wears red boots, completed a successful mission to the International Space Station and garnered two Guinness World Records? Toyota’s remarkable—and adorable—astronaut robot named Kirobo.

Equipped with voice recognition, natural language processing, speech synthesis, telecommunications functions and cameras for facial recognition and recording, Kirobo’s mission was to interact with human astronaut Koichi Wakata (left) in the world’s first conversation experiment between a robot and a human in outer space.
